What are the best ways of dealing with excess algae and weed growth?

We always recommend a combination of aeration and a probiotic solution such as Biostim. Aeration helps to oxygenate water, and Biostim helps to encourage the growth of aerobic (good) bacteria cultures in these environments. This good bacteria consumes the nutrients that algae needs to grow, essentially starving it until it begins to die off. From there you can remove the excess manually, leaving your water clean and clear.

What do I need to help my pond or dam get off to a good start?

If you’re looking to install a new water system, it’s important that you have some form of aeration system. This can be in the form of a fountain or waterfall feature (in the case of shallow, smaller ponds), or a subsurface system for deeper areas. You should also invest in some native plants to place in and around your space.

Should I select Biostim tablets or powder?

All forms of Biostim are an excellent choice for your water system. However, we generally recommend liquid if you want to quickly get your algae growth under control, as liquid will generally work faster. Tablets or pellets settle on the base of your pond or dam and encourage positive bacterial growth over time.

Are dyes safe to use around my fish and plants?
